This chapter made me say, "ahhhhhhh". It was so sweet how special that bed is to Sal's grandpa. I wonder what the bed looks like. I imagine a headboard with think wood, but carved in the middle is a heart. I also imagine four tall posts.
I also like that we get some more information about Grams and Gramps. It's a nice insight to their relationship with each other and their children and grandchildren.
I thought it was interesting the questions Grams asked to Gramps to determine if he would be a good husband. Do you think asking a boy how he treats his dog is a good way to see if he might make a good husband?
My favorite part of all was at the end of the chapter when Sal's grandpa said, "Well, this ain't our marriage bed, but it will do." That made me smile :-)
What are your thoughts? Til next time, love always,
Baba
It seems that one of our themes lately is "There is never enough hours in the day to get everything done!" That seems more true now than every before as I try to balance every aspect of my life. From my profession as the only librarian in my K-8 district, to adopted mother of an adorable Haitian boy who keeps me on my toes, to a step-mom of a precocious teenage boy with a genius verbal IQ and finally to the wife and sometime editor/collaborator of a brilliantly creative aspiring writer.

Walk Two Moons: Chapters 1-11
I love how this story begins with a kind of mystery. I also love how many relationships story lines are happening. You have the grandparents and their relationship to Salamanca as well as her father and mother. You have Phoebe 'Peeby's relationship to her 'parents' as well as to Sal. You have Sal involved in everyone, through her eyes.
Some mysteries: What happened to Phoebe's mom that is similar to Sal's? Where are the mysterious letters coming from? Who is Mrs. Cadaver and what is her relationship to Sal's dad? Why does Sal need to hurry, hurry, hurry, rush, rush, rush? Why are her grandparents so ditzy?
I'm really looking forward to reading the next chapter with you Jojo. Let's set a date to do that!
Love,
Baba
